Lesson 2

Today, I went throught the history of the first generation of martyr. It is impressed that how come they are brave enough to face such tortures? For example, some of they were burned or killed by animals. It is quite horrible and disgusting. However, they still have conviction that they died for Jesus. Because of them, many people became Christians. That is the reason for the drastic growth of Christians. That is what Tertullian said, " the blood of Christians became the seed of Gospel."

今日，我上了第二課，有關第一個世紀的殉道者故事。最令我深刻的是為甚麼他們能面對如此的逼迫？有些是給火活生生的燒死，有些則給野獸咬死。但他們死的時候，仍對神有很大的信心。亦因此，旁觀者亦成了基督徒。因此特土良說：「基督徒的血成了種子。」

使徒的殉道：
雅各（約翰的哥哥）：在被定罪時，仍無怨無悔，令一名旁觀者即場信主，和他一起被處決。
多馬：在印度傳福音被殺害，但對當時印度信徒影響深遠。
猶大的兄弟西門：被釘在十架上。
奮銳黨的西門：在埃及成為主教，後被火燒死。
巴多羅買：在印度傳福音，後被釘十架，但不死，遂遭剝皮及斬首。
腓力：與他的女兒一起被釘死於十架。

主教或信徒殉道：
伊格那丟：被餵野獸而死，死前說：「現在我才開始作主的門徒」。
坡旅甲：士每拿的主教，死時86歲，在被捕後，求獄卒給他一個小時禱告，為每一個他所遇見的人，無論信與不信。因此，獄卒也深受感動，勸他獻祭給凱撒，但坡旅甲卻說：「我事奉主86年，祂從不虧待過我一次，我沒有理由不認祂。」最後，他被火燒死，死時圍觀的群眾也哭了，並有不少人後來信了主。
泊伯多雅：是貴族女子，但她信了耶穌，並受洗加入教會。後遭逮捕，其父力勸她放棄基督徒的身份，但她反說她的身份就是基督徒，除了基督徒外，自己甚麼也不是。最後在被判給野獸咬 死。

看著這些故事，我反問自己為甚麼信主？我，作為一個基督徒，目標究竟是甚麼？可能我不用好像上述的人作大事，但我相信神是有祂心意，問題是我能否配合呢？

After heaing such kind of stories, I asked myself the reason why I believed in Him? Being a Christian, what is my missions? I am not a great person as the above-said. On the contrary, I am just a small potato, though I still believed that God has His planning. The improtance is that how could I carry out His planning?
